Founders’ Day 2026

The Sons of Utah Pioneers (SUP) and Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP) held a delightful celebration of the founding of Provo city on Wednesday, April 1st. The event featured prominent Utah historian Robert Carter, who presented “The Sons and Daughters of Utah Pioneers Encourage a History Revival in Provo”. His presentation offered a unique look into why local landmarks were established and highlighted their ongoing historical significance to our community.

The program also celebrated the future of historical appreciation by featuring the winner of the SUP 4th grade Essay Contest. Attendees were treated to a lively performance by musical guests WireWood, who provided “knee-slappin’ fiddlin’” that ensured everyone had a wonderful time. The combination of academic insight and spirited entertainment created a vibrant atmosphere for all who attended the festivities.

Throughout the evening, both the Village and the DUP Museum offered a variety of activities and demonstrations for the public to enjoy. These interactive experiences allowed community members to engage directly with Provo’s rich heritage. We are grateful to everyone who participated in making this founding celebration such a successful and educational event for the city. Happy Birthday Provo!
